The Internet and Home Buying
Published April 1st, 2005 in Buyer Information, Seller Information. This morning I read two articles about how consumers are using the internet more in home purchases. A report from Forrester Research stated that buyers prefer the information they get about prospective homes over the internet to traditional advertising in newspapers and home books. On the web buyers get more complete information, additional pictures, neighborhood or school data and virtual tours. This trend is leading Realtors away from print advertising, as it is quickly losing efficacy.
A survey from the California Association of Realtors showed that buyers who begin their search on the web look at homes for 3 weeks less than other buyers, presumably because they are able to narrow their search efficiently.
Dmitry and I see the our industry changing rapidly because of the internet. Our biggest investments are in technology and training to keep ourselves ahead of our competition and offering our clients the best possible service.
