Voters in the Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills school districts face separate ballot proposals on May 3rd that address school funding. While its intentions were good, Proposal A, which caps the rate at which a homes taxable value can increase, the effect on school funding in our districts has been detrimental.
Home buyers choose to live in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills because they perceive that we have high quality schools. This perception helps to protect property values. We can’t afford to have this perception change. Our schools are facing choices that could impact the quality of education in our community.
I urge to to voice on May 3rd, and to support the ballot initiatives in each of these districts.
