The Michigan attorney general’s office is asking real estate professionals to report anyone who sells real estate without a license. The state has nearly $1 million available to investigate and prosecute those who violate the license law.

“We will go to any lengths to stop this practice,” said Doug Whitehouse, MAR president and long-time MCAR member.

The Michigan Real Estate Enforcement Fund pays for investigations. It was established in 2002 to help prosecute those who violate the law. About $15 of every license fee is deposited in the fund.Anyone who has information on individuals who may be selling real estate without a license should call the Michigan attorney general’s office at (517)241-6565. REALTORS® also can call MAR’s legal affairs office at (800)454-7842.
