Today’s Freep has an article about a new (OK, its in its second year of publication) guide to Detroit, which is called Essential Detroit Guide. Their philosophy is to make it easy on their readers by only listing the best places in each category.

I took a minute to check out their web page and under deli entries I found The Bread Basket Deli in Oak Park, which, in my professional opinion, makes the finest corned beef sandwich in the world. Having lived many places, I feel I am qualified to make this determination. I was a vegetarian for many years and during my pregnancy it was The Bread Basket’s corned beef that returned me to the rank of the omnivores.

So, I think the guide looks pretty good. I’m giving it two thumbs up. Whether you live here or your moving to join us in the Motor City, or Hockey Town, or Hoops Town depending on your preference, this is a great place to look for something to do.
