Easy way to reduce some “clutter”.

A few years ago we bought an investment property and the previous owner didn’t quite get everything out prior to close.

Among other things we were left with a couple of window air conditioners that we would no longer need because we planned to install central air. I’d just heard about Freecycle.org, a listserv that allows people to post the items that they would like to clear out and give away. No selling allowed.

I posted the available AC units and had responses within hours. It was fun. All we had to do was leave the units out front and let the winner know where to pick up the goodies. Well, goodies to them. To us, just something we were trying to keep out of a landfill.

We found that the Royal Oak and Ferndale “freecyclers” were an active group. It was kind of fun just to look what people were giving away, and what other people wanted to take.

I was reminded of all this by an article in today’s Freep. Check out freecycle.org if you’ve got some stuff you want gone, but you don’t want to have to do a whole lot to make sure it goes away!
