A funny thing happened this Tuesday. All the agents in our office were invited to a meeting at the Townsend hotel for “exciting news.” I can be kind of skeptical, so the anticipation of “exciting news” brings on a touch of anxiety. In my experience, “exciting news” is generally not exciting for all on the receiving end, if you know what I mean.
The news, it turns out, is that the company we’ve worked for since 2001 was sold and is now affiliated with Sotheby’s International Realty. We are now the first Sotheby’s office in Michigan and we’ve still kept the SKBK name too.
My Aunt Diane called me last night after reading an article about the changes in the Troy Eccentric. She was hopeful for us that this is a good thing. And though its only been a few days, I have to say that so far the changes look promising. We’ll belong to an enormous relocation network, Cendant Mobility, so we should be working with more buyers being relocated to Metro Detroit. New advertising programs look like they’ll provide great exposure for our sellers. And in addition to being very nice people, the new owners seem to have a good handle on the technology that is needed to be truly successful in this business.
I am sure I will be discussing this more in the future here, but it looks like SKBK Sotheby’s International Realty really is a good thing.
