Anyway. About that gas. Radon test are becoming increasingly common in home inspections these days. They take a couple of days, so you should plan accordingly if you want a radon test done on your next purchase. Also not really a bad idea to do one on the home you are living in now.

Radon is an odorless, tasteless and invisible radioactive gas that is released during the natural radioactive decay of radium. Levels of radon are usually highest in the basement.

There are a number of ways to mitigate radon. In fact, experts consider a home with a radon mitigation system to be safer than one without one. So, if a radon test does come back at elevated levels during your home inspection, this does not mean it has to be a deal breaker.
