I’m watching the final gubernatorial debates tonight on TV. This year’s elections seem to be emphasizing just how bad the economy is. What ever happened to political campaigns that instilled hope?
Anyway, I thought this article was interesting because it emphasizes that our market in Oakland County is stronger than Michigan as a whole.
The Oakland Press: Local News
Patterson said an economic development team of 90 works tirelessly to foster job growth in the county. He said this year, the team recruited 26 hightech companies outside of the automotive realm from all over the world. County resources such as Wireless Oakland, an effort to provide wireless Internet access across the county’s 910 square miles, and Automation Alley, the Troy-based hightech consortium with more than 600 members in eight counties and Detroit, boast the county’s high-tech image and make for a great investment area, Patterson added.
“Yes, there is no growth, yes, there aren’t as many new bananas on our tree to pick,” Bernacchi said. “But Oakland County has meaningful, calculated growth that can sustain the existing population.”
