Almost everyone but me is done with their 2006 retrospectives. I will use the Julian calendar as my excuse. I celebrated Christmas on January 7th, and I’ve got until January 14th to greet the New Year by my accounts. I was also busy with the ActiveRain retrospective, so I didn’t get around to doing this on my own blog. Hey, I am sticking with this calendar thing though. I’ll never be late for anything again.
This blog has been around since March of 2005, but I have to say that I really feel like it was totally reborn in the second half of 2006. I left blogspot.com and became the mistress of my own domain. Even though I have struggled with Wordpress, I’ve felt like my blog ‘grew up’ this year. I began to have a bit of a sense of direction and purpose. Heck, someone even bothered to hack my site, so I must be doing something right.
Some of my favorite posts this year were:
The Very Sad House, a true story about marketing a home after a relationship falls apart. YoChicago gave this one a thumbs up in the Carnival of Real Estate.
Live Like A Rock Star, a piece about rocker Jack White’s home. It was just fun to write and to be a voyeur into Jack’s ’shack.’ And this one has a sequel.
Help, I Can’t Find Your Agent, a thought about your agent’s internet presence. If you can’t find their name on Google, do you think that a buyer can find your home easily on the web?
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Seller, Here is What You Need To Do, a piece about how to chose an agent in today’s rapidly changing world of real estate. The old school is on the way out and the agent you chose will make a difference in what you net and how quickly you net it!
It’s Your Realtor’s Fault. Well, actually it might not be.
Habitat For Humanity Took My House Away, another true story. This time about the demolition of my childhood home. Greg Tracy from BlueRoof.com put this as among his favorites in the Carnival.
Working Together: This is Cooperation. Real estate is a competitive industry, and even though we cooperate with each other, we don’t typically join forces with our competitors to advance each other’s business. This post is about a new group that is working together to do just that.
On the much lighter side, Help, My New Listing Has Fish n’ Flush, which was just for fun. It’s also a must read for anyone considering a bathroom renovation. I had to throw something light hearted in to the mix.
Well, this little exercise has helped me to get an idea of what I need to do to keep on improving my blog. I hope you will be back in 2007 to see where I go!
And, because I just read my friend Jay’s Blogolutions, I am going to turn this bad boy in to a meme and tag Jay to tell us what his favorite posts were on PREG. Don’t break my newly created chain letter, Jay. It’s very bad luck. Let’s see where this one goes. Afterall, we’ve got a week until Old New Year and I want to help you keep your blogolutions.
We would also like to hear what the inimitable Teresa Boardman of St. Paul Real Estate Blog has to say, so we are adding her to the meme. Teresa, are you up to the challenge? We think you are!

You are on doing LOTS of things right and you’re a very nice person. I wanted to stop by and say that because I felt bad about the whole fish thing. I hope I didn’t offend you with that. You’re doing a great job here and I’m sure attracting and earning lots of good traffic.
Cheers.

Thanks, John, I think. I’ll take that as a compliment.

It’s your blog and you can do what ever you want
I loved your “Dear Seller†piece and you’ve probably noticed that I’ve “mimicked†in it some of my pieces.
If you have trouble with Wordpress, let me know. Been using this for a while and am starting to get a feel for it.
Love the blog and have a wonderful 2007!
