Ruling The Palace of Auburn Hills

dmitry-maureen-at-the-palace.jpgLast Wednesday morning our office was treated to an early morning deluxe tour of the Palace of Auburn Hills, including a visit to the Detroit Pistons locker room and the opportunity to shoot some hoops down on the court. How fun! Dmitry used to be a very good basketball player, but his passion for real estate slowed down his budding NBA career. OK, not really. Afterall, Dmitry grew up in the Soviet Union, so playing on the NBA was not a likely dream for a good Soviet child.
The first thing we noticed when we went down in to the under belly of the beast (AKA the basement) was the overwhelming smell of stale beer. The beer storage room at The Palace is an awesome maze of tubes and kegs all headed off to taps throughout the building. The smell reminded one of my friends of a frat house on the morning after a party. Lovely thought, huh?
The locker rooms themselves were very nice, but I hope the players never visit their football playing friends in the locker rooms at Ford Field, home to the Detroit Lions. Our losing Lions enjoy posher digs than our winning Pistons. Maybe those cushy surroundings have made the Lions soft. But what do I know about sports anyway? Now all I need is a tour of the Tiger’s locker room to finish off my home team locker room tour checklist.
This little Wednesday morning change of scenery (usually we meet at Birmingham’s Community House) was a celebration of SKBK Sotheby’s new triple panel bill board that is on display at the suite holders entrance of the Palace. Next time you are there, be sure to check it out.
