OK, no ‘rah rah rah’, just a few impressions of what I have been seeing out there in the local market in the last two weeks or so. Let’s just call this another one of my anecdotal market reports.

  • I tried to set up 3 showings for one couple. Two of the houses were under contract when I made the call. I was pleased for the sellers, of course. But when that happens you wonder what you have missed. Another agent called me today and she said she had run into something similar this week when setting showings for one of her clients.
  • Showings of SKBK Sotheby’s listings: Last Week = 176 Last Year Same Week = 93

  • Under contract, our listing at 975 Fairfax in Birmingham, in nothing short of sizzling time

…And from today’s Detroit News.

Spring is a time of hope and Metro Detroit homeowners got just a little blossom of long-needed encouragement Wednesday.

The first small bit of good news: median home prices edged up 3.1 percent from March to April, according to Realcomp of Farmington Hills, a multiple listing service. Another hopeful sign is that the region’s pending home sales for April were up 2 percent compared to April 2006.

    I find the anecdotal stuff usually is a good indicator and gives you a pretty accurate read before the statistics show up.
