I Want To See Your Garage
Published November 29th, 2007 in Seller Information.
Two weeks ago I had a call from an agent who was inside one of my listings with clients for an hour. Clearly there was some interest in the home, but my friend was calling to ask me where he could find the garage door opener. Today’s post appears courtesy of Teresa Boardman of St. Paul Real Estate Blog as a reminder for sellers everywhere. Thanks T.
We have a lot of homes in the city with detached garages. If your home is on the market and the garage is detached, please leave a key or garage door opener out where buyers and their agents can find it. Often we are unable to look at the garage when touring a home because there is no way to get into it. Most buyers will not write an offer on a home until they see everything, and that does include the garage.
Newer homes have attached garages. Often the seller goes from garage to house through a connecting door that is always left unlocked. Sellers should make sure that they have house keys with them when they leave because of a showing. Most REALTORS know enough not to lock the door between the garage and the house but our buyers sometimes lock the door.
